like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day
Ezekiel, a priest and prophet of the Old Testament, described the radiance of the glory of the Lord being "like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day." I have always founds that to be the most beautiful description.
Biblical scholar Warren Wiersbe observes, “Noah saw the rainbow after the storm (Gen. 9:13-16), the Apostle John saw it before the storm (Rev. 4:3), but Ezekiel saw it over the storm and in control of the storm.”*
There's a beauty to this thought. God is God before the storm, over the storm, and after the storm. We need only look up; or, perhaps, like Ezekiel, fall facedown.
